Talking Home-made Gatorade for 18 cents...

Not really a MEAL, but you can make home-made Gatorade for 18 cents:

http://www.bloglander.com/cheapeats/...torade-recipe/

Here's the ingredients:

Homemade Gatorade Recipe
1/2 cup orange juice — $0.15
9 tbs. Sugar — $0.03
3/8 tsp Salt - negligible
2 liters (approx) water - negligible

Total: $0.18
Using boiling or hot water can make things go faster, but you’ll need to chill it down somehow before fridging it.

Pretty easy...

Have fun,
-Matt

I read a posts somewhere where they mentioned that you could create your own style of the sports drinks that are popular today. You simply add a pinch of sea salt to any liquid (juice, tea, etc) and it becomes your own version of a sport drink. The sea salt is what replaces the electrolytes lost after a work out.

I love the story of Gatorade, and I really like this post. Like the recipe given, the reason for Gatorade's existence is beautiful in its simplicity.

One day in 1965 at the University of Florida, the coach of the football team (the Gators) asked researcher Robert Cade why the players did not have to go to the bathroom after the game. This sparked the research into what nutrients were lost due to sweat, and one of those was salt.

When the team used the drink, they became known as a "second-half" team as they were able to outlast their opponents.

That's my 18 cents worth on the subject!

I dont know what kind of gatorade I drank , but it saved my life and mouth. I went to eat at a lao restaurant my friend took me. I order the tum som, which looked good in the picture. I took a few bite and my mouth was on flame. I drink a pitcher of water my mouth it was still hot, so I drank someone's gatorade it cooled my mouth down. But that was an experience, despite the tum som, they have excellent bbq chicken. If you want to try the som tum check them out at http://www.kafedelaos.com

I don't think that would be the same as drinking gatorade. I just tastes the same.
