Default transitioning into raw?

Im about one week in to a diet of raw food all day, a whole grain/fish/steamed veggie meal for dinner (or another salad with fish, or cooked veggies with tofu). So far I've had really bad headaches, feel quite fatigued, and have gone back in forth from absolutely starving to not hungry at all. I'm a serious athlete, so I don't think I will ever go completely raw while in training, but I'm wondering if anyone knows at all if the headaches will subside and if I will have a more constant appetite in the near future? Is it bad to take supplements or aspirin for the headaches? Any other recommendations for me? Thanks : )

Hi Rita,

I have only just joined this forum so this post may come to you a little late - i have a book here at home called "10 Steps to a New You" - it includes a chapter on a 10 day raw fruit and veg diet, which, i must admit i have never completed, but it does specify that within the first few days you might experience headaches, sickness and fatigue. This (according to this bible of mine) is a result of your body eliminating or detoxing. The diet consists of eating only raw fruit for the first 2 days, introducing raw veg salads in days 3 - 8 and then by day nine you should introduce a little protein (in fish form) and cereals. Hope this helps.

Since you say that you are a serious athlete, i would say that you should increase the amount of whole grain starchy carbs that you eat. The headaches may be related to constant low blood glucose levels.
