Actually it is easier with propane, because you don't have to worry about burning the chicken, as the flame does not jump up normally, unless perhaps you have turned it way too high and the wind is extreme. It is pretty much the same, but the flavor will be a little different, as the charcoal gives it more flavor, in my opinion. You should still cook it for the same time period, about 1 1/2 hours for half broilers. You can cook it for less time if you already have it cut up into drumsticks, breasts, thighs, wings.
The best way to make sure it is done, as the article says, is to turn the bone of the drumstick, or any bone that is sticking out for that matter, and see if it turns freely. If it does not, it is not ready. Also, check to make sure that none of the meat looks pink. |
