Great Dessert Topping!
There's a little trick recipe called "Dulce de Leche", or "sweet of milk". I have seen this recipe attributed to various different nationalities, and I have seen recipes that call for various different ingredients, but the simplest uses only one!
Take as many tins of condensed milk as you want (the type with the pull-off lids) and place them in a sauce pan that is at least as deep as the tins are tall. Fill the sauce pan with enough water to come to the top of the tins.
Put the sauce pan on medium-low heat and bring to a simmer. Keep it simmering for a good two hours or so -- the longer you keep it simmering, the more carmelization will occur in the milk, giving it a really nutty, sweet taste.
Be sure to run cold water over the tins for a while before opening, as steam can escape and burn you.
What you will have is a nice butter-scotch type of sauce that will be great on ice cream, cakes, pies or anything else you can think of! Yummy!
