Yes its very simple light your cylender and mix rice and water in the ratio of one third and cook it for ten minutes. Now it is complete.

I have recently switched over to brown rice. I think I am not getting the rice cooked just right. I am cooking it in the usual way of cooking white rice. Is it different for brown rice? For one cup of brown rice, I add 2 cups of water and pressure cook for 4 whistles - approximately for 10 to 15 minutes. But when I open the lid, the rice is not properly cooked and is watery. Then I strain the water and cook again to get properly cooked rice. Even then I don't think that it is properly done. Please tell me the proper way of cooking brown rice in a pressure cooker

I usually cook rice in a rissoto, but that is of course a different way to cook it. I usually fry it a bit and then add stock/water after whatever else in the risotto is cooked.

That's what I'd also suggest for you, Paul.
What are you cooking the rice for exactly? To accompany something else?

The way we did it when I was in culinary school was: 2parts liquid to 1 part rice or 1 1/2 parts liquid to 1 part rice ratio. Heat a bit of oil up in a pot, pour in the rice and coat it with the oil. Add your stock or water and a bit of salt. Bring to a boil then reduce to a simmer. Cover and let it steam on low for 15-17 minutes. Fluff with a fork and voila! Nice fluffy rice.

First decide how much rice you want to make! 11/2 to 2 cups is a pretty fair amount, lets say 2 cups(I like Uncle Ben's converted rice). You will boil 4 cups of water(two parts water for one part rice),then turn flame to a low simmer (barley on) add the two cups rice and level rice with a spoon so that it is all below the water line. Cover and simmer for 20 minutes. After 20 minutes hold lid and drain excess water into sink. Leave covered for an additional 5 minutes then serve! Once you have mastered white rice try my Spanish rice & refried beans http://hubpages.com/hub/Spanish-Rice-Refried-Beans

I love the taste of the rice.My favorite is white rice with butter and brown sugar or white sugar on the top with a little milk. While the rice is cooking I like to add a cube of butter this gives it a good flavor. You can add any sauce to it. Even italial dressing. Use some milk and as much spices as you want.Or cook rice and add ground beef, cheese, cilantro, salsa, etc, and pile on a fried flour tortilla.
